Transition Costs

Nothing is ever simply black or white. There was a cost to making the transition. But there was a benefit to doing so.
To change was not all good. To stay put was not all bad. But there was a ratio of goodness-to-badness that, in the long run, was quite favorable for everyone involved. However in the short term it seemed so insurmountable, so ludicrous, that it beggared the belief...
